Theturning 3 camewhenImetMrs.Green.Shewasfiftyyearsold,goingthroughchemotherapy(化学疗法)forhercancer,andstillmanagedtorun30milesaweek.IthoughtthatifMrs.Greencouldrun6milesatatime,Icouldrunatleasttwo.InFebruary,incoldweather,Istarteda2-mile 4 aroundmyneighborhood.Twomonthslater,I 5 therunningforthefirsttime.Ifeltverytired,butIfelthappy. Overthenextseveralyears,Icontinuedtopusheachrunforafew 6 minutes,slowlybuildingmyendurance(耐力).Ididn’tneedto 7 againstotherrunners,formymostimportantcompetitorwasmyself. Aftercontinuingto 8 myself,Iknewitwastimetostepmytrainingup.I 9 IwouldtrainfortheDetroitFreePress/FlagstarMarathon. Theraceday 10 came,andIwasfilledwithexcitementandworry.ItwasfinaltimetoseewhatIwasmadeof.The 11 endedupsurprisingly.Idid 12 throughthelastfewmiles,butaftermyrunning,therewasnodoubtinmymindthatI’dfinished.AsI 13 thefinishline,Iexperiencedthestrongestsenseof 14 andhappinessIhadeverhadinmylife.Iamnowamarathoner.
